Today, the Lucero Family headed to the much-anticipated California Mid-State Fair! Jonathan and I love a good state fair, but haven't been to one in years. And well, that is because of HEAT. Arizona's State Fair is in October, when its still hot ... hot like the face of the sun kind of hot.
So it was amusing when the temp are our new state fair here in California reached 106 degrees. Say whaaaaaat?
Happily there is a lot of shade at the fairgrounds. And one could also say there is air conditioning in the buildings, but ... it sure wasn't very cool in those buildings.
But I digress ... :)
We had fun looking at all exhibits, playing games, riding rides (and ponies) and petting animals.

Wine Tasting a Pomar Junction
We had our first wine tasting experience at Pomar Junction today! Christian was bored, Scarlett played with a cat and Mommy and Daddy drank wine and enjoyed the gorgeous views! :)

A Visit to Templeton Valley Farms
There are so many awesome things about living in the California Central Coast! One of them is local farms that offer "u-pick" days!
Just a short drive away from our home is Templeton Valley Farms where we can pick raspberries and blackberries ... what fun! They also have a variety of fresh produce and fresh chicken eggs. I love getting fresh, local, organic produce locally. Soooo much more fun that walking into Walmart and buying groceries! :)

Our First Visit to the Beach as Real, Official Californians
On our drive down to Morro Bay to check out a little outdoor market (which wasn't quite what I expected it to be), we discovered a cute little secluded beach along the famed "Highway 1" around the Cayucos area. The kids were so excited to splash around in the waves and dig for sand crabs. Mommy was happy for the opportunity to just sit and do nothing for a while.
Jonathan and I love to see the kids entertained by nature, rather than by the TV, iPad, etc. We also love that we don't need to plan an official road trip to drive to the beach, because it is only a 1/2 hour away.
Ah ... this is the life! :)
