Spring Break in Hawaii: The Hawiian Style Hale AirBnb

We had THE most glorious time in Hawaii!!  I have over 600 photos to sort through - wow!  So I'm going to document our adventure through a few different posts.

Today I will be sharing our AirBnb stay at The Hawaiian Style Hale in the town of Pahoa on the Big Island.

The home is older but well-maintained.  The top level is where the homeowner lives (who is in Texas these days) and they lower level was all ours.  The home had everything we needed with the exception of:

  • Vinegar for Easter egg dying
  • Drying racks for towels (which never dried)
The part of the island we stayed on gets A LOT of rain.  Like ... everyday, sometimes more than once.  The humidity was surprisingly bearable, though (especially for this girl who lived most of her life in the desert Southwest).  Sometimes it would suddenly start raining hard ... carry on for a few minutes ... and then stop.  It was a nice warm ran and quite lovely!  And its also the reason everything is so incredibly green and lush.  I LOVED IT!!

The most glorious backyard ever!

More backyard goodness!

View of the house from the backyard.
There is a covered porch with a dining table.
We LOVED eating our meals there!

Got some great pics of this cute gecko visitor!

We never did get a beautiful beach sunset picture,
but I love this one with all the trees!

A paved road through our neighborhood.
Large properties with so much grass, trees and flowers!
Our house was in "Leilani Estates" which is the neighborhood
that was most affected by the lava flows from Mt. Kiluaha a few years ago.
Some streets just dead-ended into a lava field.

My goodness ... this person's yard in our
neighborhood is soooooo perfect!

Not all of the roads in Leilani Estates
are nicely paved.  It's cool though ...
I love the "jungle vibe." :)
