35 and counting ...

Well, it finally happened. And there wasn't a darn thing I could do about it: today, I turned 35.

It used be that I felt anybody in their 30s (or older) was old. And now that I'm officially in my mid-30s, I guess that makes me old (yes, yes, I know ... those of you who are older than I am are now rolling your eyes).

And when it occured to me that in just five years, I'll be 40 ... well, that was shocking. Even more shocking was realizing that in 15 years, I'll be 50. Oh my.

But you know what overshadows any annoyance with being 35? My delight in being a new Mommy to the most precious baby ever (in my humble opinion!).

I pray we'll be able to have another child before all is said and done (I'd prefer Christian not be an only child). So, that is part of my anxiety about being 35 now ... how much more time do I have in my child-bearing years. I'm sure several of you are rolling your eyes as you read that. And if you are, you probalby fall into one of two categories: 1) You've already raised your children or 2) You're young enough that you have plenty of time to have your children.

I have already decided if Christian is the only child we ever have, then that is okay. We would just like to one day be blessed with having two children. And tick tock ... tick tock goes the clock.

Ah, 35 ... where did the time go?

I'm right behind ya! 7 more months to 35...and I haven't even had my first baby yet! Don't fret my friend: my mom had me at 42 years old!! Conventional wisdom says that so long as you've had your first baby by 35, it's not as dangerous or difficult to have your second or even third one. It seems to be true among our mid-30-something friends, so take heart! And remember...40 is the new 20, so you're really like, 15 again! hahaha!
